Seriously.  Russia is amazing.  Go there now.1

Perhaps my Russian люблю праздник is only because I came in with lower expectations, but overall it’s been an amazing week here.2  I wish we had more time.  We could have spent a week in Moscow and two in St. Petersburg.

Opulence.  Russia haz it.

Ah, remember this commercial?3

St. Petersburg is B-E-A-utiful.

The Winter Palace at Night. A miracle it survived the German siege during WWII. More on that later....

Today we spent the afternoon at the Peterhof palace outside of St. Petersburg.  I’ll leave the details for the eventual full-coverage post on RedheadRoamer.com.

But opulence.

Man, does Russia ever has it:

One more down.

We leave for Finland tomorrow.  Sorry to say Dasvidanya to Russia.  It was amazing.

So going out with a bang with a quick blog post.

Oh.  And if you’ve ever wondered what a 53 Ruble beer looks like,7 this is it:

Finish this beer and you will receive the Order of Lenin....

If you’ve ever wondered what a 53 Ruble beer tastes like?  Just take a can of Natty Light and mix in 1/3 a shot of Axe Body Spray and 1/3 a shot of Scrubbing Bubbles bathroom cleaner.8

Thanks for reading,9

  1. …and take the time you want to spend there and multiply by 2.3.

  2. Yes.  I used Google Translate for “love fest.”  And yes.  I realize that if you reverse-Google-Translate it back to English it says “love feast.”  But I’m going with it.

  3. Well, Lauren does now because I’ve made her watch it 21.7 times since we got to Russia.   And… now she wants a miniature giraffe so that backfired.

  4. Nothing beats Versailles.

  5. Note to my Kentucky homies… love y’all, but I mean the actual Ver-“Sigh”; not Ver-“Sails”

  6. If you are not from Kentucky, that joke was lost, but the town next to Lexington is called Versailles but is actually pronounces Ver-Sails.

  7. That’s about $0.84

  8. Yep.  Yummy.

  9. Uggggh….. head….about…..to….explode…wanting….to…do….obvious….stereotypical…..blog….sign-off…..”From-Russia-With-Love”…..
