Before we ever had a plan for this round-the-world trip… before we ever had an itinerary… before we had booked the first flight… I knew that I wanted to visit El Nido on the island of Palawan in the Philippines. I had heard that it is “the most beautiful place in the world” from several sources. I’d visited the Philippines once before in 2010 and already agreed that the country was truly amazing… but on that trip I didn’t have time to make it to Palawan.
So this time I was determined to. Because I had to see these famous crystal clear waters and beautiful beaches for myself. Because Palawan – and specifically El Nido town and the surrounding islands – are one of the last kinda/sorta undeveloped areas. And rumor even has it that Alex Garland’s famous novel (and movie with Leonardo DiCaprio from 2000) The Beach was inspired by Garland’s stay here for six months (although he set the book in Thailand). So it was official. We were going to El Nido.
Now before I give you a bit more detail about the how and why… as usual my wife already did the hard work and wrote a great post, so luckily I can just link to that. (click here)
Which leave me with the easy part. Showing you all of my favorite photos from the most beautiful place I’ve ever seen.

Originally I wrote captions for all of these photos. You know, the usual stuff.
Like “this is us kayaking on the Big Lagoon.” Or “here’s me floating in the water.” Or “this is an island we passed on our boat.” Or “check out that sunset.”
But then I deleted all the captions.
Because if you were there with us… you’d have told me to just shut up. To not talk or narrate or ramble.
So you could just sit there (or float there) and enjoy the view. That glorious beautiful view. So here ya go. My fav photos. Presented without commentary:

There you have it.
Paradise. El Nido. The most beautiful place I’ve ever seen. It was everything I wanted and more.
Thanks for reading viewing,
Christopher
